| 【 Collection Name 】: Ding Erzhong Carved "Fengshan Woodcutter" Seal Collection Age: Republic of China 【 Collection size 】: Height 13.8 cm, length 5.2 cm, width 5.2 cm This collection is an old collection of the Hai'an Museum, with a stone seal made by Mr. Ding Erzhong during the Republic of China period for Mr. Han Guojun, a famous patriotic and democratic figure in our city. The product is in good condition, with flower and bird prints on the body and thin sun engraving techniques. The four characters "Fengshan Woodcutter" have a clever layout, simple and natural seal script, and meticulous and exquisite knife techniques. Ding Erzhong was a famous artist during the late Qing and Republic of China period, proficient in the art of internal painting (snuff bottle), and had considerable research on gold, stone, and seal cutting. His paintings were unique and elegant, and he, along with Zhou Leyuan, Ma Shaoxuan, and Ye Zhongsan, was known as the Four Masters of Internal Painting in the late Qing Dynasty. Seal cutting originated in China and later became popular in East Asia. There are various types of seals, but they can basically be divided into two categories: official seal and private seal. According to the engraved content, it can be divided into Mingzhang and Xianzhang. Outside of Mingzhang, they are collectively referred to as Xianzhang. Its various materials such as copper, stone, wood, ox horn, ivory, etc. can all be used as printing materials. The names of seals in different periods also vary, such as seals, seals, treasures, seals, records, and inscriptions. |
