The tide of the river rises, and the cultural context flows with fragrance. At the time of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the collision and integration of old and new ideological trends, as well as the iteration and rebirth, gave birth to a group of innovative and innovative art pioneers on the fertile land of Nantong Hai'an. Tan Zuyun and his son are influential representatives in the art world, known as the "Three Tan of Hailing" by the world. They settled in Shanghai and made a living by painting, making friends and discussing art with famous artists such as Wu Changshuo, Yu Youren, and Li Ruiqing, and galloping in the maritime art world. They uphold integrity and innovation, integrating the interests of literati and local sentiments into their brushwork, carrying the message of art. They not only refine their calligraphy and painting to alleviate disaster relief, but also devote themselves to public welfare and charity. They also founded the Huashang Bookstore and Hailing Academy, printing calligraphy and painting, and widely teaching disciples, dedicating themselves to the dissemination and aesthetic education of traditional calligraphy and painting. The cultural heritage of the river and sea is endless, and the artistic charm of the Tan family has been passed down from generation to generation. This exhibition is divided into three chapters: orthodox calligraphy, literary elegance, and maritime style. It showcases 40 sets of calligraphy and painting works, presenting the artistic conception and spiritual significance of the Tan family from all angles and perspectives, and reproducing the unique style of the Republic of China maritime painting school.
